About
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the Louisiana Counseling Association. I obtained a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Xavier University after earning a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Psychology, and a minor in Sociology, at Louisiana State University. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
I study Polyvagal Theory, traumas effects on the nervous system response, and an emerging field of health psychology referred to as psychoneuroimmunology. This field focuses on the relationship between psychosocial processes and the activities of the nervous, endocrine and immune system. PNI takes an interdisciplinary approach, including psychology, immunology, neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology, molecular biology, psychiatry, behavioral medicine, infectious diseases, endocrinology, rheumatology and many more.
I am client centered and use a blend of evidence-based practices, including Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapies, Internal Family Systems, and Attachment Theory, depending in the unique needs of the client. I incorporate Family Systems and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and families. I operate from resilience and strength-based methods. If I had to choose, humor would be my favorite coping skill!
Holistic Counseling, LLC is an integrative approach to treat the whole person- supporting mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational health and healing. Understanding the essential connection between mind, body, spirit and community, I encourage clients to pursue healthy lifestyle changes, including evidence-based nutrition, mindfulness, visualization, breath work and physical movement practices that impact health.
